
David Mathison joined Chadick Ellig in August 2011 as Managing Director of the firm's Digital Media practice. In this role, David will leverage his 25+ years of experience as an internationally recognized media consultant, author, keynote speaker, hi-tech entrepreneur and event producer to build and support his practice.
His book, BE THE MEDIA was featured in The New York Times after pre-selling over 5,000 copies in just 11 days via his website, Twitter, and Facebook. The book is used in major journalism, media and communication schools such as Columbia University School of Journalism and Harvard University's Nieman Journalism Lab and was recommended for libraries by the American Library Association's Choice Reviews Online.
David has given keynote presentations everywhere from the United Nations (three times in 2010) to Columbia University, from the National Speakers Association to the Public Relations Society of America, from Amsterdam to Zagreb.
From 1999-2002, he was founder and CEO of the Kinecta Corporation (now part of Oracle NASDAQ:ORCL), where he raised $30 million in under 2 years.
From 1994-1999 he was Vice President with Reuters, the world's largest news agency, where he pioneered online content syndication, years before RSS was invented.
From 1993-1994, David was Director of Client/Server Products and Services for Software Spectrum, providing consulting, training, development and support for applications from Microsoft, Novell, Lotus, Oracle, Sybase and Powersoft, among others. Level 3 Communications acquired Spectrum in 2002. From
1989-1992, David held various roles at Ovid Technologies, which provides sophisticated search software for full text bibliographic and summary content databases to the scientific, technical and medical markets. Ovid was acquired by Wolters Kluwer in 2000.
David is the founder and Executive Producer of Home Aid, an annual campaign and event to benefit America's homeless and serves on their Board. He is also on the Board of Speakers Without Borders, an international non-profit created to support professional speakers who are committed to inspiring the human spirit in under-served communities.
David earned his Masters degree from Columbia University in 1995.
